Upland is a municipality in San Bernardino County, located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. The city has roughly 75,000 people. In fact, Upland is a Los Angeles suburb. George and William Chaffey founded Upland as an irrigation settlement. It was a small rural town centered on agriculture, notably citrus fruits and grapes, when it was first founded. Many of the older adobe and ranch-style houses still exist in today’s Upland, most notably Euclid Avenue, the north-south, tree-lined street that passes through town.
